If you are at the field today, the trough is filled with fresh water - one high side for the bigs/water fans and a low side for the paddlers 🐕 Please keep a close watch for any signs of heat distress in your dogs and also remember we are happy to waive the 48 cut off and reschedule appointments in weather like this Look out for, stop your walk, cool your dog and contact your vet for advice if you see: • Excessive panting and drooling • Rapid heartbeat • Lethargy Contact your vet immediately if you see: • Collapse • Vomiting or diarrhea • Bright red or pale gums • Confusion or uncoordinated movements • This can progress to heatstroke, a life-threatening emergency
‼️ HOT WEATHER DAYS ‼️ The weather is REALLY picking up again this week PLEASE CONSIDER RESHEDULING YOUR APPOINTMENT if your dogs won’t cope. We will only close in extreme weather events so you can use your judgement to decide what’s best for you and your dogs on these sunny summer days. Safety first. PLEASE think now about whether you may want to reschedule your appointment to a cooler time of day - we have early morning and late appointments available throughout the week. (We will always waive our 48 hour rescheduling policy in weather like this so please contact us). ☀️ Keeping Cool at the Field – Top Tips for Hot Days: 💧We have fresh water on site but please bring a bottle of water to cool down your dog if needed. A quick rinse with cool water can make a big difference. 🐾 Book early morning or evening slots to avoid peak heat 🌳 Stick to the shade, where you can, and take regular breaks (there’s not a lot of shade in the field at midday, please bear this in mind). 🧊 Frozen treats or a damp towel can help cool your dog post-play 🚗 Please never leave dogs in cars, even for a minute – it gets dangerously hot fast 🐕 If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your dog to run around. But you can still enjoy a quiet mooch and a sit down in the heat. Hey, why not bring a picnic and have a relaxing lunch while your dog has some fun too?!
The weather is going full summer on us this weekend so please take care when using the field. ‼️ TRAFFIC UPDATE ‼️ We believe the road before Headhill is now back to traffic light control. They are now starting to work on the other side which means the exit from the Thanet way appears to be shut, you can carry on to Waterham Road or Highstreet Road/Monkshill and come through Graveney village. What a faff! We’re really sorry if this causes anyone issues, we’ve tried to get the most up to date info from the company but they’re not updating as they open/close roads so please everyone give yourselves an extra 5 minutes!
Very helpfully, the road just before the Headhill junction has now been fully closed with no warning and no updates. Please factor this is when travelling to the field. I have also had some murmurings of other closures in Boughton so if you are aware of any other closed roads we would love a heads up
A couple of new additions to the field this week…. Our ‘Lost and Hound’ box where we will put any toys, clothing and any other bits and bobs that have been dropped or forgotten in the field and, the ‘Toy Box’ where there will be a selection of toys to play with during your session - Please remember to put these back at the end of your appointment 🐾
❗️ PLEASE CHECK YOUR BOOKING TIME ❗️ We know life is busy and we all get muddled up occasionally but can we ask that you double check your booking time (we send out confirmation emails at the time of booking and text reminders a few hours before your appt). This will hopefully help us avoid people mistakenly being in the field on the wrong day or time when someone turns up for their session - thanks everyone!
‼️ POORLY POOCHES ‼️ Please be aware that there appears to be an illness circulating around Medway and Swale areas causing sickness and diarrhoea in dogs. If you have any suspicious that your dog may be poorly DO NOT take them out on walks and please make us aware so your appointment can be changed, we do not want to risk making dogs ill! Please also remember that your dog must be clear of all illness for at least 48 hours before you bring them back to use the field. Thank you for your cooperation on this - let’s keep our dogs safe 🐾
Something I never thought we would have an issue with running a dog field…. 😬 It’s moulting season! And we completely understand the desire to get out in the open and maybe give your dog a good brush through but PLEEEASE can we ask if the fancy takes you while you are here, that you treat it like rubbish and ➡️take it with you⬅️ It doesn’t blow away in the breeze (or at least, it only gets as far as the fence line then sticks all over that), it sticks in the damp grass, gets trodden into the dirt and in this case, sits in the stones and makes a right old mess that needed to be cleaned up 😣 Please keep our field tidy for everyone 🐾 💚
The Yappiest of Christmases to you all!! We hope you spend the festive season doing what you most enjoy (with maybe a couple of dog walks thrown in for good measure!) and that Santa Paws got your dogs requests too 🐾 We will be taking a little time away from the computer and phone over the next week so any general enquiries we may not respond to straight away. We are still contactable on the phone for emergencies. Have a wonderful Christmas from us and our motley crew 🐾
Now that we have OFFICIALLY breached the ‘one month to go’ mark I feel I am safe mentioning the ‘C’ word! We will be open for the whole festive season so you can tire the pooches out and go back to mince pies and seasonal TV without an ounce of guilt! OUR CHRISTMAS AND BOXING DAY SLOTS ARE FILLING FAST! So please, if you want to book up, don’t miss out. Don’t forget, you can also buy gift vouchers on our booking system so if you know someone who loves using our field, it could be the PERFECT Chrimbo present 🎅🏽
Time to get your best Halloween pose out! Our little shed is now spooky season ready 👻 Make sure you get some pictures of your pooches posing and tag us when you post them (or send them to us if you’re not sure how to tag) - we will pick our three favourite pictures to win a free field session 🎃
GOOD NEWS!! Our fences are fixed and as good as new - all bookings can go ahead as normal from Thursday morning 🤩 We will contact those who have missed appointments in the last three days to make sure you get those walks booked back in 🐾 Thank you everyone for your understanding - it wasn’t the start we had planned for the week that’s for sure!! We do have the added bonus of a giant tree branch for your pooches to investigate now too 🙈😅
